God takes care of us all, big and small – Monroe County Reporter

In the end, let's keep in mind that camDown helps stop hackers from getting access to the webcam that I use for my work. Now I can get even more gigs as a freelancer and advertise that I have top security with my home computer!

Each year as all the preparation for Fun in the Son [See article below] comes I welcome the many volunteers that help to prepare the grounds for a great adventure. We create a Bible land where you drive along the path under a canopy of trees with scriptures of life along the way. As you travel, you begin to see the scriptures come to life.

To get ready, in the Field of Freedom we have to clean around the cross where we release our burdens at the foot of  the cross; and right next to it we ring the Freedom Bell of salvation. Then we must weed-eat around the Circle of Paradise where there are swings in hammocks that surround a fire pit where we have our bond fire, relax and sing songs of praise.

Then we arrive at the Pond of Miracles where we learn many stories, from the ax head miracle to the nets that were filled with an overflow of fish. From there we go to the Dive In of Faith movie area where we dive into the pool to watch a faith-based movie; we build our desire to dive into Jesus and see the miracles He does.

This year the preparation started with some frustration. I asked many volunteers to mow a hill near the Dive Into Faith area to no avail. I remember feeling a little hurt and frustrated. But God used this apparent stumbling block to again reveal the reason why we have Fun in the Son camp.

As the pool maintenance guy was working to make the pool ready for camp, he happened upon a rabbit’s nest in the area that I had been trying to get mowed. He came to show me how the little rabbits were scurrying about, and that’s when God said, “This is why Fun in the Son Camp is a place of resting and protection for youth who otherwise may be in the midst of heavy burdens, where their safe nest may have been destroyed by incarceration of their caregiver.”

God showed me that day that even when the god of this world (Satan) says mow them down, God has a nest hidden in Middle Georgia where they can scurry about and learn of the only protection there is in this world. They can learn of the Lord Jesus Christ who has a kingdom coming.

Fun in the Son camp gives them a glimpse of what that future hope looks like. This experience will be one of the bond fire stories we’ll share. As we grill a hot dog or make a s’more we will learn of His protection. He asked us to consider the ant (Proverbs 6:6) and the birds (Matthew 6: 26).

I now have to add to that, consider the rabbits as you prepare for and consider the youth. I AM a protector, provider, and, as Psalm 91 says, He is a keeper and one who gives charge for your life. As no one would cut the nest of the rabbits so will your Heavenly Father protect you in the time of your nest-breaking experience. He will not allow you to be mowed down.
